What to Expect

Whether you’re celebrating a pregnancy, adding something unexpected to a photoshoot, or just curious what it would feel like to become a piece of art, a body painting appointment is usually more relaxed and low-key than most people expect.

Here’s how to get started

Reach out through the contact form with as much detail as you have, whether that’s a clear vision or just a general idea. Breanna or her colleague and fellow body painter Anja Yamaji will follow up to talk through coverage, concept, reference photos, and answer any questions.

Once the general details are confirmed, you’ll receive an estimate and coordinate a date and location. A 50% deposit secures your booking and then we can finalize any additional design details or help you develop ideas from scratch. (Design sketches are available for an additional fee.)

In the days leading up to your session, you’ll get a reminder with prep details and a personal check-in text so you feel ready to go.

FAQs

How long does the paint last?

The paint will last for the duration of your photography session or for your event. For dancers and performers, we typically use alcohol-based paints since it’s sweat- and water-resistant (we’ve used it underwater!). We also spray you with a sealant at the end to help keep all the paint in place. But keep in mind that longevity depends on what you’re doing and friction is the enemy of body paint. So the places where the body paint meets clothing is where you’ll see it rub off first. If you are sweating extensively or drinking alcohol-based beverages, you may see the paint wear off faster.

Is it safe for sensitive skin?

Most people do not have any issues with the professional-grade body paints we use, even if they have sensitive skin. However, your skin may feel dry when you’re being painted because we ask that you arrive with clean skin with no lotions or oils applied. (Lotions and oils prevent the paint from sticking well).

If you have any skin concerns, we can do a skin test at the beginning of your session or we can set up a time for you to stop by Breanna’s home studio in Far East Dallas for a skin test.

Can I eat/drink while I’m being painted?

Absolutely! In fact, we strongly encourage clients to eat breakfast and bring snacks or drinks to their appointment. We recommend small sips to stay hydrated and eating bite-size snacks throughout to keep you energy up. Standing/sitting still for an appointment can be much more tiring than many people realize.

What if I’m shy?

That’s completely normal. Most clients feel more at ease once we get talking and the session gets underway. We always aim to create a low-key, judgment-free environment, and you set the pace for what you’re comfortable with. Breanna has also been body painted many times, so she fully understands what this all feels like!

What do I wear?

Depending on your preference, you can be painted fully nude or you can also wear pasties and/or underwear. We can paint over bikini tops and bras, however, painting over fabric takes longer and the results aren’t as ideal for photoshoots. Check our section about underwear add-ons and recommendations.

Where do I get painted?

You have the option to be painted at Breanna’s home studio in Far East Dallas (address provided upon booking). Or Breanna can paint you on location in your home, at the event, in the photography studio, or wherever else you might be (within reason, of course!). Travel fee applies.

Undergarment Options

Your comfort is priority! Depending on your preference, you can be painted fully nude or you can also wear pasties and/or underwear. Basic stick-on pasties are included (if desired).

Add-on seamless options are:

  • Seamless Professional Body Paint Pasties (non-latex) – $25

You may purchase your own undergarments, but please send us a photo or link before your appointment. Choose synthetic fabric (not cotton) that is a similar match to your skin tone. We recommend the following:

Preparing for Your Appointment

  • Arrive with clean skin with no heavy lotions or oils applied. Lotions and oils will prevent the paint from sticking.
  • Bring a robe or loose clothing to cover yourself after your appointment.
  • You may get paint on your clothing, please wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained.
  • Bring a sheet to cover the seat of your car.
  • You may get cold while being painted. Bring cozy socks or a robe to keep yourself warm.

Paint Removal

We will provide you with a paint removal kit and instructions to take home. The kit typically includes a washcloth, makeup wipes, castile soap (if wearing full body paint), and adhesive remover (if needed).
